For web design, I work with clients to get to know them, what they need in a website, and what they want to see in the end product. Sites can be custom-built from the ground up without “cookie-cutter” templates or prefab content management systems, or I can build a theme on top of an existing backend, such as WordPress or Joomla. Avoiding CMS and templates can greatly reduce overhead and clutter to make the site as clean-cut as possible, especially for simple static sites. However, a CMS can be much more valuable to organizations requiring very dynamic sites, especially when there is a need for multiple users to be able to log in and contribute to site content.
Web technologies are a very important part of web design, and using them correctly can add immense value to a website. The technologies I use today include standard W3C-compliant XHTML and CSS for frontend presentation, PHP for server-side scripting, small amounts of JavaScript to enhance end-user experience, and occasional Flash components for an extra splash of multimedia content.
If you are interested in having a site designed for you or your company, please send me a message through the contact page. I generally charge a flat rate of $200-400 for personal or non-profit sites, and $500-1200 for small businesses, based on size, technology, and complexity.
The following are sites that I have designed or am currently working on:
