Why I Don’t Like Republicans
Posted on October 26th, 2008 by Jeremy
Some of you who know my political opinions may be thinking I’ve gone crazy, but I thought I’d shed some light on some things that tick me off about the Republican party. So I guess the title should really be Some Things I Dislike About the General Population of Conservatives. But… that just doesn’t sound good as a title.
So here’s my list:
- We have Sarah Palin as our VP candidate. She seems like a good person and all, but is she really fit to lead the country if something happens to McCain? And is she fit to be VP anyway? I honestly don’t think she’s had enough experience with the federal government to really know enought to do her job well. We’ll see I guess.
- Republicans always seem to feel like they have to defend themselves, or almost apologize, just for having conservative views. Sometimes we even give up some of our values because the liberals push us so hard. I guess our biased media has made people think they’re evil for being Republicans. We need to stop letting ourselves be pushed around.
- Republicans like to follow blindly. It is unbelievable how many people associate themselves with the GOP without even knowing what the party stands for. People who are Republicans based on a single issue. Or Christians who think Jesus was a Republican or something like that. Or people who vote for conservatives because that’s what their parents do or tell them to do. People need to look at the issues, establish what they believe and what they feel the most important issues are, and decide what party to align with based on how their own opinions and values line up with those of the party.
- Republicans have the image of a bunch of grumpy, old, rich, white men. We can’t change what the media portrays us like, but we can change how we portray ourselves. There are a lot of young, middle class, minority, and/or female conservatives out there, but they have to show their faces and get involved.
Stay tuned. The other list is coming next…
