Where did all this come from?

Consider with me, for a moment, the smallest building blocks of matter. Start with the parts of an atom - protons, neutrons, and electrons, and how they combine with each other in different numbers to make different elements, and how these atoms combine together in different ways to make different molecules. Then think about how these molecules structure together to build everything else. (more…)

Un-cluttering Grub2 on Ubuntu

Sick of all your different kernel versions showing up on your boot menu? Just want your latest one to show up, but don’t want to deal with removing old kernels every time you update? It’s easy!

Open up /etc/grub.d/10_linux in your favorite editor. Scroll down to the while loop at the end of the script and replace the while… do… done statements with if… then… fi. Save the script, run update-grub and you’re done! Your boot menu should now show only the latest kernel for your Ubuntu install. I’m guessing this will work for just about any distro that uses Grub2, although I’ve only tested it on Ubuntu.

And if you people think we’re so stupid, explain all the technology you use on a daily basis that wouldn’t exist without the work and great minds of Americans. (more…)

The Ultimate Slipstream

Okay, so we all know that people have been slipstreaming service packs into Windows setup discs ever since Windows 2000. But I wanted to do this with Vista, and I wanted to include Service Pack 2 and other Windows updates. (more…)

Back

Well, I guess since it’s been a few months, I should probably write again. See, the thing is, not much has happened. Starting from where I left off last time… (more…)
